Appalachian State University Cycling Team

Our First team meeting will be held at 7:15pm tonight in the McRae Peak room of the student union. We have lots to talk about, so come on out!

The App State Cycling Team finished their season strong earning third place overall for ACCC Division Two. The team had very strong showings at their home race (Boone Roubaix and the Boone Mall Crit) as well as the Conference races at Virginia Tech. Looking forward to having another solid year next year as we move up to Division One! A big thanks to all of our sponsors who made this great year possible!

And a big congratulations to our team members who will be graduating: Noah Niwinski, Ariel Leath, Thatcher Hurt, Dan Sapp, Ross Bowden, Martin Wadewitz, Michael Koballa, Ariana DeBussey, Brendan Murray, Jamie Godfrey, Matt Sadlik, and Michael Lowther. You guys will be missed.

Last weekend, the ASU Cycling Team traveled to Doswell, VA to race in two crits hosted by UVA and VCU. Saturday, Olu Ogunlela placed 7th for Men’s D, Andrew DeVierScott finished 15th in Men’s C, and Brad Kendall came out in 15th in a tough Men’s A field. Sunday the crit course changed slightly and ASU riders were ready to race. Andrew Murphy finished 14th for Men’s C, Olu worked hard for 4th in Men’s D, and Brad Kendall took 12th in Men’s A.

Easter weekend, App State will host its home race featuring Boone Roubaix (www.booneroubaix.com) and a criterium at the Boone Mall on Sunday. It will be a fantastic weekend of racing in the high country! Come out cheer to your mountaineer cyclists!
